• Med Tech Seminars in November - 9 October 2008

    As part of the MTAA MedTech seminar series, NSW Health will give a Procurement Update on 5 November 2008 in Sydney. This update will provide medical technology suppliers with information on the new arrangements for the new centralised service centres. The Australian Industry Group is hosting a MTAA MedTech seminar on 12 November in Melbourne. The Victorian Hospitals Industrial Association is presenting on the transition from Workchoices to Fair Work Australia.

  • New edition of the Code of Practice released - 30 September 2008

    The 4th edition of the MTAA Code of Practice commences on the 1 October 2008. The code sets out ethical standards and encourages compliance with relevant laws for the medical technology industry. MTAA offers a range of training courses to increase the understanding of responsibilities under the code.

  • No blood needed thanks to innovative medical technology - 25 September 2008

    A non-invasive blood monitoring device that removes the need to draw blood to monitor patients has won the 2008 Kerrin Rennie Award for Excellence in Medical Technology. The award was presented to Masimo Corporation on 24 September at the Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) dinner in Sydney.

  • Australia is in danger of getting it back to front when it comes to medical innovation - 24 September 2008

    According to Sir Christopher O’Donnell, a member of the UK Healthcare Innovation Council, Australia is in danger of missing a vital opportunity to strengthen medical technology innovation. He commented on the recent Cutler report on Australia’s Innovation System as part of his speech at the Medical Technology and Innovation 2008 conference on 24 September in Sydney.

  • MTAA awarded 3 Year Industry Integration of E-learning grant - 22 July 2008

    MTAA has partnered with VHIA (Victorian Hospitals Industrial Association) and webqem (e-learning specialist) to embed e-learning as a delivery method for professional development in the medical technology workforce through a 3 year grant awarded by the Canberra Institute of Technology.
